Gardner Minshew is The Man in Jacksonville

There are plenty of swirling rumors in NFL circles. Would the Jacksonville Jaguars have any interest in Colin Kapernick?

Personally, I hope not.

More from Jacksonville Jaguars News

Will there be any competition in camp? It’s doubtful as Gardner Minshew looks bigger and stronger from all the footage we have seen this offseason of his workouts and training. The former sixth-round draft pick is about to take part in his second NFL training camp, the first where he comes in as the undisputed starter. It’s a bold new world here in Jacksonville with Minshew running the show.

How will a second-year of Minshew, in a new offense with new coordinator Jay Gruden, look this season? Plenty of short and intermediate passes with plenty of speed on the outside. Minshew gets help at the tight end spot from former Cincinnati Bengals star Tyler Eifert.

It could be the difference in one or two more wins this season.

Look for Minshew to take more of an active leadership role on and off the field. Look for him to also remain in the pocket more as the field comes to him. The pass catchers on this roster are above average and the tight ends, if healthy, could surprise.

Leonard Fournette is still there to help move the football. This could be a huge season for Minshew and Company.
