Knowing the defensive line needs help, the Jacksonville Jaguars add K’Lavon Chaisson out of LSU.

The Jacksonville Jaguars followed up their first pick in the NFL Draft, which helped the defensive side of the ball by again helping that side of the ball with K’Lavon Chaisson DE/OLB out of LSU. The move helps the team’s needs for a pass rusher and someone who can also play standing up.

This is definitely a move for the future as the team will be without both Calais Campbell who was traded to Baltimore and Yannick Ngakoue, who is seeking a trade this offseason.

I like this move although I would have liked the team to take his teammate wide receiver, Justin Jefferson. It also shows the front office believed the defense needed more help than the offense at the moment.

At 6’3” and 254 pounds, Chaisson could be lined upfront of outside at linebacker. It would be interesting to see him playing alongside Joe Schobert and Myles Jack or on the edge, opposite last yea’s first-round pick, Josh Allen.

"“Possessing an impressive diversity of moldable pass-rushing ingredients and moves, Chaisson has begun putting the recipe together to become a game-altering pass rusher,” writes Lance Zierlein of NFL.com.“While some long-limbed rushers lack the bend and leverage to maximize their length, his fluidity and agility allow him to dip, corner, change direction and close in tight quarters or with extended range.”"

Chaisson has some big shoes to fill as Ngakoue had 37.5 sacks in his four seasons with the Jaguars.

"“Chaisson’s stock has gained momentum with his surging performance matching the elite athletic qualities. It adds up to an increasingly confident projection as an impact pass-rusher with Pro-Bowl potential,” Zierlein added."

The Jaguars have lost major productivity from their pass rushers this offseason. Chaisson will be expected to come in and start as a rookie.

With their first selection, the Jaguars added cornerback C.J. Henderson of Florida. The team did add some depth to their defensive line in free agency by signing Rodney Gunter to play on the edge or inside at defensive tackle. Cassius Marsh was signed to play outside linebacker and defensive end. Al Woods is a big run-stuffing defensive tackle.

The Jacksonville Jaguars have a chance to find help at wide receiver and on the offensive line in the second and third round on Friday.
