Will the Jacksonville Jaguars get quarterback Gardner Minshew some help for the offense in 2020?

I’m sure both Gardner Minshew and Nick Foles have some of their attention focused this offseason to whoever is named the new Jacksonville Jaguars offensive coordinator. The man who replaces John DeFilippo may also lend come notion as to how the coaching staff will run the offense for the 2020 season.

Minshew had what can be described as a whirlwind season that produced 3,712 yards to go along with 21 touchdowns in 14 games. He has earned the right to start for Jacksonville, but Foles, with a guaranteed contract and hopefully a completely healthy body, looks to reclaim what was once his.

Minshew’s swagger and confidence were refreshing in otherwise a depressing season here in Jacksonville. The sixth-round draft pick with questionable arm strength and small size proved he was as big, if not bigger than any other rookie quarterback in the league in 2019.

More from Jacksonville Jaguars News

"“I think the biggest thing for me is that I helped my team win, and I did that better than any [first-round] rookie quarterback, so that gets me fired up,” he said, via The Florida-Times Union after the 2019 season came to a close."

In Minshew’s favor is the six wins he earned as the starter – the only ones on the team’s schedule in 2019. The Jaguars only scored 18.8 points a contest – which is something anyone leading this offense will have to fix if Jacksonville is to take the next step as a potential contender for the AFC South Title.

"“I know what I am,” he said. “I know I’m going to be a great quarterback in this league. I know we’re going to build something great [next] year.”"

The front office should have a busy offseason finding players to make this team better and to win more games in 2020.

Minshew is going to need help from the weapons on the current roster, but the Jaguars will also need to address the issues that plagued this franchise the past two seasons. Here are three things the Jaguars need to do to get Minshew some help for the 2020 season.
