The Jacksonville Jaguars once again lose wide receiver Marqise Lee to injury. This time, it might be the last time fans see No. 11 in teal and black.

The Jaguars will go to London this week to face the Houston Texans without Marqise Lee. The team has announced the wide receiver has been placed on the injured reserve list with a shoulder injury. The move ends Lee’s season and could end his career as a Jacksonville Jaguar.

Lee, a second-round pick in 2015, has been plagued by injuries his entire career and missed all of 2018 with a torn ACL he suffered in the final preseason game last year against the Atlanta Falcons. Last offseason, prior to the injury, he signed a  four-year, $34,000,000 contract with the Jaguars, including a $7,000,000 signing bonus. There is a buyout clause in his contract after this season, according to spotrac.com, which will cost the franchise $3.5 million in dead cap money.

In six games this season, he has three catches for 18 yards.

"Per ESPN.com’s Michael DiRocco, “Lee is due to make $6.25 million in base salary and count $8.75 million against the salary cap in 2020, but the emergence of second-year player DJ Chark and the continued development of third-year player Dede Westbrook may make him expendable.”"

Also, Keelan Cole has become a more active part of the passing game the past two weeks with a touchdown against both the Cincinnati Bengals and the New York Jets.

Chark and Chris Conley both lead the team with 39 catches this season. Chark leads the AFC in receiving yards with 660 through the first eight games of the season.

Lee was the second player drafted by the franchise in 2014, behind Blake Bortles and ahead of Allen Robinson. Brandon Linder, Aaron Colvin, and Telvin Smith were also drafted in that class. If this is the last season Lee plays in a Jaguars uniform, Linder will be the only remaining player on the Jaguars roster from this group.

"“Lee battled injuries early in his career, missing nine games in 2014-15 before playing in every game in 2016 and missing only two games in 2017. He has 174 catches for 2,184 yards and eight touchdowns in 59 career games,” DiRocco wrote."
