The Jaguars loss on Sunday did nothing to change their status in FanSided.com’s most recent NFL Power Poll. Jacksonville is still 21st overall.

Evidently, the loss to the New Orleans Saints on Sunday did little to change the Jaguars position in the most recent FanSided.com NFL Power Poll.

The Jaguars, who fell at home 13-6, remain locked into the 21st spot in Russell Baxter’s rankings, which when you take a look at how well the defense played and how inept the offense looked, things could be worse.

This is the second straight week the Jaguars, now 2-4 this season, have lost to an NFC team.

"“Doug Marrone’s intriguing team returned home looking to erase the memory of last week’s seven-point loss at Carolina. But the Jaguars had a tall order in taking on the formidable New Orleans Saints, winners of three games in a row,” Baxter writes.“And unfortunately for Jacksonville, a game effort against the NFC South leaders came up short. It was a rough afternoon for rookie quarterback Gardner Minshew and the offense as the young signal-caller hit on less than 50 percent of his throws (14-of-29) for 163 yards and one interception in the seven-point loss. All told, Marrone’s ground game was limited to 75 yards on 24 attempts and the Jaguars’ offense managed 226 total yards."

If the Jaguars are going to get back into the win column, they must do a better job of executing on offense, a unit that looked every bit as lost at times on Sunday as it did last season.

"“We didn’t play well enough to win the game,” Calais Campbell said in his postgame media availability. “It’s tough taking a loss like that. We had our opportunities to make them lose yards and good plays that we could have made, but we just have to learn from this game. We have a lot of life still in this team and now, with us playing against these AFC teams, it is starting to get crucial and we have to step up and keep fighting until we win.”"

The defense has been maligned most of the season so far, especially after the way the Carolina Panthers ran through the unit last week. This was a much better display by Todd Wash’s group, but the offense, this time, could not execute.

Despite the loss, Baxter adds there is plenty of opportunities for the team to make some noise within their own division with 11 weeks left in the NFL season.

"“The AFC South continues to be a very intriguing division as no club has pulled away to date. And the fact that the Jaguars have proven to be more than a handful for every team they have played this season bodes well. We will learn a lot about this club in November when they have three straight games within the division,” he wrote."
