Can the Jaguars win their third game in a row with a rookie quarterback under center at Carolina?

It was another week of excitement for the Jacksonville Jaguars. Jalen Ramsey was still part of the news, having missed every practice on the schedule because of his back injury. He was formally ruled out for the game against Carolina on Friday afternoon.

Then there was Gardner Minshew, who won the Offensive Rookie of the Week award while dealing with a knee injury that has limited him in practice ahead of the game in Charlotte. The only other quarterback on the active roster is Josh Dobbs, who saw time with the first-team offense.

It makes for interesting theater as the Jaguars and Panthers renew their rivalry as both teams celebrate 25 years of NFL longevity.

This is a game that could be one where the last team holding the football wins. It should also showcase two of the NFL’s better running backs in Christian McCaffrey and Leonard Fournette.

More from Jacksonville Jaguars News

May the best runner win. Once again, the staff here at Black and Teal take a stab at predicting who will win on Sunday.

Kathy Clark – The Jaguars versus the Panthers produces a week of trash talk in my family. My brother is a Carolina resident and fan. The teams have many things in common including good running backs and young quarterbacks.

The teams are evenly matched but my Jaguars are a must-win team this week. Jaguars 24 Panthers 17

David Levin – Suddenly, the Jaguars are once again in the conversation of being a potential playoff team. That’s great for the city and the AFC South, where all four teams are currently 2-2.

This is a game that comes down to which team can effectively stop the other’s running game. If Leonard Fournette has a game like last week, Jacksonville stands a really good chance of winning. If McCaffrey goes off and has a huge game running and catching the football, it could be a long day for the Jaguars.

I’m picking with my heart on this one. Jaguars 20 Panthers 17

Anthony Robertson – The Panthers and Jaguars are teams that are lead by unlikely backup quarterbacks. Both teams have solid defenses. They match up well.

However, the pass rush of the Jaguars will probably cause more problems and force more mistakes for the Panthers. This will be a close game. Jaguars 21 Panthers 17

Jennifer Shatzer – Even with Cam Newton out, the Panthers are a strong contender. With Gardner Minshew’s knee injury last week from no one calling the Brady Rule or penalties for all of the low hits he took, Jaguars may end up with Josh Dobbs at quarterback.

Makes it a tough week to guess. Panthers win 21-17

Lorenzino Estrada – Jacksonville looks to roll on with Minshew Mania on a cross-conference road opponent. Jacksonville will struggle to contain running back Christian McCaffrey, but will work well against Carolina’s passing game.

The key to victory lies within the Jaguars now resurgent running attack. Jaguars 24-17

Next. Jaguars won't trade Jalen Ramsey. dark
