Can the Jaguars win their first game of the 2019 season?

Gardner Minshew continues to impress the Jaguars coaching staff. Offensive Coordinator John DeFilippo told the media in his weekly presser on Tuesday the rookie quarterback is still making adjustments to the NFL, but he is doing it that helps this football team.

When asked about what makes Minshew’s progress impressive, DeFilippo, in his first season as OC here in Jacksonville, said it the little things the first-year signal-caller does in the huddle and the changes he makes during the game that has proven successful.

"“There were about 10-12 plays where we were up against the play clock where it was, two, one [seconds], ball was snapped, where that wasn’t the case this week. So, I thought our huddle procedure overall was a lot better. The fact that it was a loud environment, on the road, that was really good to see,” he said.“You see Gardner being more comfortable in the offense, knowing when to take off and go or get down. I think he was much more situationally-aware, running for a couple first downs, knowing where the sticks were to get down. So, I think as you see him play more, he’s going to become more situationally-aware, which will be great for our team.”"

Minshew is going to be the center of attention this week once again when the Jaguars face the Tennessee Titan at TIAA Bank Field tonight. The Titans have had a nice run against this team, owning them on Thursday night last season.

It’s another big week for the Black and Teal as they try to earn their first win of the season. We here at Black and Teal make our predictions for tonight’s game.

Anthony Robertson – Going against the Titans on a short week after a thought loss to the Texans will be a test for this team and could mark a make it or break it point of the season.

With rumors of Jalen Ramsey being traded and a team that’s been plagued with injuries, I do not think the Jaguars will come away with the victory. Titans 24 Jaguars 14.

Jess Overby – Hard-nosed, smash-mouth football. That’s the type of team the Jaguars want to be. And that’s exactly the type of team the Titans are. This is going to be like an old-time prizefight: two opponents, toe to toe, trading punches.

I expect the Jaguars to keep the Titans out of the end zone. Unfortunately, the Titans are going to keep the Jaguars out of the end zone too. This game is going to make history. It’s the Titans, and until the Jaguars can prove they can beat them, I’m not going to pick them. Titans win 3-2.

Zach Blaine – The Jaguars will host their most hated rival the Tennessee Titans on Thursday night at TIAA Bank Field. The Jaguars are 0-2, and the Titans are 1-1, but I think this is a more evenly matched game than what people seem to believe.

The Jaguars usually get it done against the Titans in Jacksonville, but the Titans have won their last two trips to TIAA Bank Field. For the Jaguars to win on Thursday night, the offensive line has to barricade Gardner Minshew and let him throw and the I hate to pick against the Jags, but I won’t believe the progress of the offensive line until I see it. Titans 21 Jaguars 13

Kathy Clark – The Jaguars play their arch-rival the Tennessee Titans on Thursday night.  This is a prime time game and a great chance for the home team to shine in front of a national audience.  It’s tough because the Titans seem to have our number but it is a now or never game for the Black and Teal.  An 0-3 start is a huge hole that could be difficult to overcome.

I previewed the Titans for this week and see no reason the Jaguars can’t win.  The team and coaches need to join together and make this happen. I saw the defense come together last week and if the offense comes together we can win. I predict a low scoring game Jaguars 17 Titans 13.

Jennifer Grantham – I am excited to see what Gardner Minshew II brings to the table this week. I am screaming for more discipline from this team as a whole, on the field, the sidelines, and in the locker room. If we can keep penalties at bay, we can beat the Titans. Jaguars win 21-17.

David Levin – Is it possible the circus with Jalen Ramsey helps the Jaguars play inspired football? The team cannot allow the Titans to run the football down their throats like Tennessee did last season on Thursday night.

The team’s defense was gashed last week by the Texans. Gardner Minshew played well in the fourth quarterback was nothing more than average the first three periods. This must be a total team effort and the running game had better show up as well. Jaguars win 24-23.

Lorenzino Estrada – With all the off-field drama currently bubbling for the Jacksonville Jaguars, it will be hard for the team to overcome it, especially against a 1-1 Tennessee Titans team.

I believe Jalen Ramsey will put on a spectacular final show in a Jaguars uniform, but Gardner Minshew and the Jaguars offense will struggle against a stout Titans defense. Titans 19-13.
