What will the Jaguars record be now that we have seen this team play four preseason games and know a little more about the ability of this roster?

Have the Jaguars made the necessary improvements to make a move in the AFC South? Will this team prove to be better than an 0-4 preseason record?

There is a reason to believe this roster will be better in 2019. There is hope the injuries the team sustained last season and the beginning of training camp and the preseason are a thing of the past. And from a fan’s perspective, having a new quarterback who seems to have galvanized the locker room and given the franchise hope is a reason for celebration.

Right now, the Jaguars are undefeated and preparing to face the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday afternoon at TIAA Bank Field. Like the other 31 teams in the NFL, there is renewed hope of raising a Lombardi Trophy in February.

More from Jacksonville Jaguars News

The AFC South took a major hit when it learned Andrew Luck was retiring from the Indianapolis Colts. The Houston Texans look different with the loss of Lamar Miller on offense and the trade that sent Jadeveon Clowney to Seattle. The Tennessee Titans are without Taylor Lewan the first month of the season and could have some controversy at quarterback.

All these things set up well for our beloved Jaguars. Will it mean a better record? Four months ago, the staff at Black and Teal predicted what they thought the team’s record would be. Now, after the preseason, the same question is addressed. Who changed their mind and why?

Here a look at how our staff sees the Jaguars record in 2019.

Kathy Clark – The preseason has ended and the regular season is about to begin.  The Jaguars have upgraded the quarterback position and the offensive line. That should add several additional wins to last season’s total.

The problem is the questions at wide receiver, running back and tight end. The defense looks good but the safety and linebacker positions are one injury away from disaster. My prediction without any new talent is 7-9.

Jennifer Shatzer – I am going to hold true to my earlier predictions after the preseason. So much has changed with our own franchise and others that sometimes I am encouraged and sometimes I am forlorn, but I am sticking with my gut going forward for this season.

Bring it on, let’s see what we got! Go Jaguars! Prediction: 13-3.

Lorenzino Estrada – The Jaguars having a disastrous preseason on the offensive side of the ball doesn’t change their outlook for the regular season. It’s preseason, a lot of the players on the field during August will not be playing come September.

Led by Nick Foles, Jacksonville’s offense will be capable, with the backing of a solid defense. The new division favorites finish the year 10-6.

Jess Overby – My initial projection for the Jaguars was 10-6. That projection assumes a relatively healthy team with few injuries. If there are not too many injuries, I still believe 10-6 is reachable and the Jags will be fighting for a division title.

If there are more injuries, particularly to the offensive line, then it will be another losing season and a very frustrated fan base… not to mention owner.

David Levin – This is a hard one. I predicted 8-8 four months ago and have now had time to see the team in training camp and the preseason.

I am impressed with many things and worried about others. This is a team that could make a serious run at the playoffs or could fall flat once again. Coaching will be the key. Doug Marrone remains on the hot seat until the Jaguars win with consistency. I still hold to me 8-8 prediction.
