Jaguars vs. Falcons: 5 Things to Watch
What should we look for on Thursday night as the Jaguars face the Falcons from Atlanta?
Our preseason journey nears its end. With an 0-3 record so far, the Jacksonville Jaguars finish off the preseason against the Atlanta Falcons on Thursday, August 29.
Expect there to be plenty of competition with players fighting for their careers. Not just free agents and rookies, but some veterans are on the “magical” bubble everyone talks about. Some of the best battles are for back-up spots on the offensive line and at wide receiver.
With the overabundance of depth at some positions, there are questions at others as to how the team will deal with injuries or what happens if a key player goes down this season. The change in how the coaching staff approached training camp and the preseason will tell us if the team is ready for the regular season in terms of reps on the field and in practice.

Here are five things Black and Teal fans should watch for.
Who will play on Thursday? – The fourth preseason game is notorious for the sitting of most, if not all members of the starting offensive and defensive units.
Head coach Doug Marrone changed his approach going into this offseason, with most of the starters only playing in last weeks game against the Miami Dolphins. Marrone could give the players a rest going into week one against the Kansas City Chiefs.
Is Cam Robinson good to go? – Jaguars starting left tackle Cam Robinson made his debut for the team for the first time since week two of the 2018 season last week against the Dolphins.
Robinson didn’t get much time on the field, so could Marrone opt to get some reps for the third-year player going into week one? Robinson will have a test right off the bat against the Chiefs in Pro-Bowl defensive end Frank Clark.
Does Josh Allen get a rest? – He stole our minds and hearts after a dominant performance last week, so will defensive end Josh Allen get a break going into the last week of preseason. Allen is one of the only starters to play all weeks of the preseason thus far. The coaching staff might not want to test their luck and give Allen a breather heading into week one.
Wide Receiver Depth – The biggest question going into the season will be the wide receiver position and their on-field relationship with quarterback Nick Foles. Dede Westbrook shined last week in the preseason and Chris Conley looks to have established a rapport with Foles during practice.
Marqise Lee is returning from injury. But what about everyone else? DJ Chark has made some plays in practice, but it hasn’t translated to on the field. Keelan Cole isn’t turning heads, C.J. Board could make the roster. There are a lot of bubble players at the position, and Thursday could sort out who is worthy of a roster spot.
It’s almost here – Before we know it, the Jaguars will take the field for the 2019 regular season. The preseason has been mostly uneventful (no surprise there) but real football is upon us.
While we wish to see our favorite players now, it’s good to see that most will enter this regular season healthy. Get ready Jaguars fans, it’s going to be a fun ride.
