Two Jaguars make Top-25 under 25 list
By David Levin
Jacksonville Jaguars defensive stars Jalen Ramsey and Yannick Ngakoue made FanSided’s list of the top 25 players in the NFL under the age of 25.
Fansided.com’s Russell Baxter recently released his list of top 25 players under the age of 25. Both Yannick Ngakoue and Jalen Ramsey of the Jaguars made the list.
It’s appropriate that arguably the two best players on Jacksonville’s defense are part of the group we all will be talking about for the next decade. In Ngakoue, the Jaguars have a stud pass rusher who has just cracked the surface of his potential. In Ramsey, the Jaguars have arguably the best cornerback in the NFL, based on which story you read and who you ask.
If you ask Ramsey himself, there is no question who the top guy is in on the list of the NFL’s best defensive backs in the league.
"“Here’s something to contemplate,” Baxter writes. “Is it harder to block Jacksonville Jaguars’ defensive end Yannick Ngakoue or is it more difficult to pronounce his name?”"

The terror on the left side of the Jaguars defensive side has made an impact from the moment he stepped on the field as the Jaguars third-round pick in 2016. Eight sacks his first season in black and teal were followed by 12 in 2017 and 9.5 last season. He and Calais Campbell are one of the most feared pass-rushing combinations in the league.
"“Ngakoue would finish his debut campaign with 23 tackles, eight sacks and four forced fumbles while totaling one interception and knocking down two passes. The 6’2”, 246-pound defender was even more relentless on his way to a Pro Bowl nod one year later,” Baxter added.“The 24-year-old edge performer 30 tackles, one dozen QB traps, six forced fumbles and a pair of fumble recoveries. This past season proved to be a disappointing year for the team. But Ngakoue finished second on the team with 9.5 sacks, to go along with 28 total stops.”"
In Ramsey, the Jaguars got one of the most controversial and dominant players in the league. A man who loves playing the game of football, as he has said in the locker room on many occasions. Ramsey isn’t afraid to speak his mind. He is also one of the few players in the league whose words match his play and vice versa.
The Jaguars announced prior to the NFL Draft they were picking up the former FSU star’s fifth-year option in 2020 that will pay him over $13 million next season. Ramsey is worth every penny on the field.
Ramsey is ninth on Baxter’s list, which might be a slight bit low. He is the highest ranked defensive player on this list.
"“Of course, there’s plenty of other adjectives when it comes to the three-year cornerback. The 24-year-old defender is a two-time Pro Bowler and was named to the All-Pro team in 2017 in just his second season in the league,” Baxter wrote.“The former Florida State Seminole has come to play every week during his brief career, starting all 48 regular-season contests and all three of the Jaguars’ three postseason games in ’17. He finished with 65, 63 and 65 tackles, respectively, over that span.”"
While the 2018 season wasn’t his best – and wasn’t the best for most Jaguars period, he did manage to have three interceptions and made the Pro Bowl.
