The Jacksonville Jaguars top rivals have been shuffled a bit over the years.

Who are the Jacksonville Jaguars three biggest rivals? Who would you pick? And how would you justify them?

When deciding on the top three rivals, I looked at their record against all the other teams to see who they had played the most and what their record was. If you’re just looking at how often they’ve played other teams, then the three division rivals would top the list, but only one made it into my top three.

No NFC teams made the list either. There weren’t enough games against any of them.

Based on yearly schedules, if you can’t come up with the top two almost immediately, please stop reading and do a little research. Then come back to see that the teams I picked are right.

I also didn’t just pick teams the Jaguars had played the most outside the division. In fact, there are three teams they played more that didn’t make the cut. Why? Because they just don’t feel like rivals. You need some history and maybe some bad blood between the teams to be rivals. You also need some competitiveness.

The Jacksonville Jaguars have played the New England Patriots thirteen times, including five times in the playoffs (far more than any other team). But they’ve only won two of those games, and not one playoff game. That’ not a rivalry… that’s a team that has Jacksonville’s number.

My first thought for No.3 was the Los Angeles Chargers. I thought they had played each other more than other teams and were close in win-loss records. I was wrong. They’ve played only eleven times with the Chargers winning eight of those games. After that, I really didn’t have a team that jumped out to me. So I had to do a little research.

Here are my picks for the top three rivals. We’ll start with number three, mainly because the top two should be pretty obvious to just about every Jacksonville Jaguars fan.

#3 – The Buffalo Bills

I can hear a bunch of you right now – the Bills? Really? Yah, really.

The Jaguars have played the Bills 17 times in their history, which trails the three division rivals and three AFC North division opponents. But remember, the Jaguars started in the same division with the Bengals, Ravens (Browns), and Steelers. And the Jaguars trail the Bills in win-loss record 8-9 but have beaten them both times they’ve met in the playoffs.

The next closest team is the New York Jets, who they’ve played 15 times and hold an 8-7 advantage over. The two teams following (Denver and Kansas City) are at 13 games each with the Jaguars leading the Broncos by one game and trailing the Chiefs by one. So, it’s the Bills.

#2 – The Pittsburgh Steelers

If this surprises anyone you need to check your Jacksonville  Jaguars fan hood.

The Jaguars have played the Steelers far more (26 games) than any team outside their division, partly because they started out in the same division in1995. And they’ve beaten them twice in the playoffs, both times in Pittsburgh.

The last time was in 2017 when Leonard Fournette ran all over the Steelers defense and the team’s secondary led by Jalen Ramsey and A.J. Bouye, picked off Ben Roethlisberger with ease.

The Jacksonville Jaguars remain the only team to beat the Steelers in Pittsburgh twice in the same season… and they’ve done it twice. They also hold a 14-12 win-loss advantage over the Steelers.

hat’s the stuff of rivalries.

#1 – The Tennessee Titans

If this surprises anyone you should immediately stop calling yourself a Jaguars fan and if you live within 100 miles of Jacksonville you should pack up and move farther away.

Maybe to Los Angeles or somewhere out west.

The Jaguars have played the Titans more than any other NFL team… and the Titans hold a 30–21 win-loss advantage. The Titans are who the Jaguars’ have wanted to be the last few years – a hard-nosed, tough, enforce their will against you, run it down your throat football team.

Because of their history, this is the biggest reason the Titans’ are the Jaguars’ biggest rival.

Next. These Jaguars will make their first Pro Bowl in 2020. dark
