The Jacksonville Jaguars are set to meet with Florida tackle Jawaan Taylor for a second time prior to the NFL Draft.

Does a second interview with Florida offensive lineman Jawaan Taylor mean the Jacksonville Jaguars are one step closer to taking him with the seventh overall pick in the NFL Draft next month?

Whether the Jaguars take Taylor, who would fill a major need on the offensive line, is still to be determined. The offensive line and the tight end position appear to be the biggest holes to fill on the team’s roster right now.

Per John Reid of the Florida Times-Union, neither Tom Coughlin or David Caldwell attended Taylor’s Pro Day at the University of Florida, but the NFL prospect did meet with the team at the Combine in Indianapolis in February. Both Coughlin and Caldwell were in Arizona last week for the NFL meetings. The next time the player and team meet will be in April, Taylor confirmed.

More from Jaguars Draft

"″It went very well,″ Taylor said in Reid’s story. ″All my meetings were great. We all just sat down, go to know me more as a player. It was just like, we scouted you on film. Just trying to test me mentally, see what I know about the game. It was great.”"

There has been plenty of speculation over what the Jaguars will do with the seventh pick now that they have signed Nick Foles as their quarterback and have added pieces to the offense in right tackle Cedric Ogbuehi, tight end Geoff Swaim and wide receiver Chris Conley. The team still needs depth at almost every position on offense, including running back and potentially another quarterback to groom for the future.

At 6-foot-5 and 328 pounds, Taylor has the versatility to play either tackle or at guard. The Jaguars re-signed A.J. Cann in the offseason to play right guard. Ogbuehi would be slated to start at right tackle if the season started today, but could have competition in camp this summer.

Will Richardson, who was drafted in the fourth round of the 2018 Draft is still on the roster and figures to be part of the competition at the tackle position. The former North Carolina State star was injured for the majority of his rookie season.

Still, adding Taylor to the mix could help stabilize a unit that was decimated by injuries last season.

"″Teams talk to me about both (left tackle or right tackle),″ Taylor said. ″I’m looking forward to just coming in and helping the team right away. Whatever position they want me to play, I’m going to play it. So it doesn’t matter to me.”"
