Can Nick Foles become the leader on and off the field that the Jaguars and the city of Jacksonville want him to be?

We really want a leader, both on field and off. The most beloved Jaguar players in the franchise history have not only made big plays on the field but have invested within our community. We want Nick Foles to be a sell out for the River City and the Jaguars and to give us back our pride.

We have had some fleeting moments of success but we as a team and as a community want to yell Duval with real pride.

I attended the New Years Eve game between the Jaguars and the Titans in 2017 and the pregame electricity in the air was spectacular. Seeing Jaguar fans in Nashville and hearing the screams of DUUUVAL up and down Broadway is one of the best memories I have as a fan since Wayne Weaver announced he was bringing a team here in 1995.

More from Jacksonville Jaguars News

The sea of Jaguar fans was overwhelming. We were traveling fans and we were all in. What I wouldn’t give to have that energy for every home game; to not look at each other walking into the game wondering how bad this one was going to be. We went into 2018 all hyped up to really make a difference. We taunted Tom Brady after we beat the Patriots. And Bam!  We fell, and we fell hard, and we just never got it back.

Nick, please come and be a solution. Please come and shake some cages. Bring some of that winning swagger to our city and to our fans. Let us be known for something other than our swimming pools and Jaxson DeVille. We love both, we do, but we love football more. I would love to travel and people not to ask me why I am a Jaguar fan. Make it worth the price increase for my season ticket this year.

Make me excited to be there, but more importantly, make it that way for your teammates. As exasperated as we are as fans, the players on this team need it. We need some fire, some passion, and some gumption. We need a leader on that field, and we need it right now.

We need more yards, less interceptions, and consistency in the winning direction. We need you to sell out for us as much as we have for you. We want you to be a franchise player that invests in this organization, its fans and its city.

In return for that, you won’t ever have to play in the snow here at home. We have the St. Johns River, miles of beaches, and sunshine. We have a beautiful city and community that WANTS to embrace you.

We have fans that will cheer for you, that will wear your name on their jersies with pride while they eat their teal colored buns at the games. We will fly flags, paint our faces, and chant DUUUVAL with vigor and excitement.
