The Jaguars offense once again looked impotent in a 20-7 loss to the Houston Texans on Sunday. The loss closed out a season where the team finished 5-11.

The lasting impression of the Jacksonville Jaguars 20-7 loss to the Houston Texans for the 2018 season will be Leonard Fournette and T.J. Yeldon sitting on the field having a conversation, while the team was getting pushed around the playground.

As you know by now Tom Coughlin, the executive vice-president of football operations for Jacksonville, was none too pleased. While Tom Coughlin, head coach Doug Marrone and general manager David Caldwell will all be back next season, Yeldon will test free agency. Fournette’s status with the team will remain a mystery.

For Coughlin to call out a player like he did and have his message spread on social media like wildfire, there could be repercussions for the behavior deemed “disrespectful.”

It has been a tough season for these Jaguars.

  • Injuries
  • Poor quarterback play
  • Lack of a running game
  • Lack of discipline by the players

Everything adds up. The injuries will be blamed for the porous offensive line and lack of contributions from the tight end position. Times, they are a changing here in Jacksonville. One year removed from the AFC Title game and this organization looks to be in disarray.

Here is what we learned from Sunday’s loss in Houston.

The season is over – And not soon enough. After 2017 that took this team to the brink of the Super Bowl, the anticipation of 2018 was higher than in any other year. This etam fell flat for so many reasons.

The 20-3 loss showed how impotent the offense is and how the defense continues to carry this franchise. Expect more of the same thing next season unless changes are made to this roster. A new offensive coordinator and health on both sides of the ball will improve certain areas, but not all of them.

The Jaguars have the seventh pick in the NFL Draft – Not exactly where you want to be when you need a quarterback.

The New York Giants are the only team ahead of Jacksonville in need of a quarterback of the future. Dwayne Haskins doesn’t excite me in the least and while the Blake Bortles era in this town is about to end, the Jaguars must have a game plan to get a signal caller in free agency and for the future.

I still think Coughlin drafts an offensive lineman at seven and either trades back into the first round to get his quarterback or hopes and prays there will be one available in the top half of Round 2.

Times, they are a changing – We hope! This team was the biggest disappointment in the NFL this season. Marrone, Coughlin and Caldwell are all back next season, but the narrative must change to produce a winning season. The roster must be overhauled as the offense could not make it happen.

I am more worried about making money decisions on defense. Will Calais Campbell and Marcell Dareus stay? Will they restructure their contracts to help with cap space? Can this team afford to lose both or either player?

Next. The Jaguars season has ended and changes must be made. dark

Fournette is an issue in this locker room and the organization. Are his days numbered in Jacksonville? How will the wide receiver corps look next season. Most of all, which head coaches stay and who is released this offseason.
