The Jacksonville Jaguars are currently on a two-game losing streak and the Houston Texans are on a three-game winning streak. Both teams meet on Sunday at TIAA Bank Field.

The Jaguars started the season with two great wins but have lost three of their last four games.  The Texans started the season with three consecutive losses but have won three in a row to join Jacksonville and Tennessee in a tie for first place in the AFC South.

The Houston Texans

The Texans are in many ways similar to the Jaguars.  They have offensive line difficulties and a powerful defense. They differ in that their start to the season, which was abysmal and the criticism was brutal. They appear to have righted the ship with three consecutive wins.

Stephen  Forsha of ToroTimes wrote the following…

"After the mess that was the first three weeks of the season it is very surprising to see where the Texans stand. That they have been able to do enough the past three weeks has not just been surprising but exciting as well."

He went on to comment that the offensive issues seem to come from the offensive line.  Running backs and running game, in general, is also an issue.

The Jacksonville Jaguars

Jacksonville hit a large bump in the road the past two weeks. There are numerous articles, stories, and comments about what the team should do. Many state the problem but few have solutions.

Let’s look at three solutions to the problems that may help Jacksonville defeat the Texans.

Nathaniel Hackett (offensive coordinator) needs to create some new plays and schemes and go back to what the Jaguars do best. The offensive line is a run blocking line and the Jaguars need to stay with the run.

Leonard Fournette may play and had has not been ruled out. T.J. Yeldon is the next man up and the philosophy of run first needs to continue.

Head coach Doug Marrone suggested that information overload may be an issue and going back to basics might be helpful.  In addition, more blitzes may need to be called to create some much-needed turnovers.

Michael DiRocco of ESPN.com wrote how this is a defensive game that will define yet another important contest between the two teams.

Last as stated by Ed McCaffery on NFL radio, each player needs to look at himself and ask what he can do to get better. Also he said all players have good and bad plays in every game and the blame game isn’t productive.

The Jaguars will win if

They make some changes in the offensive play calling and go back to what works.

The defense must play a more aggressive game but also makes sure that all the players are on the same page.  An on-the-field leader that can help this process needs to step up.

Next. Will Jaguars RB Leonard Fournette play on Sunday?. dark

Lastly, finger pointing and wishing for fewer injuries or better players won’t change anything. Play with the team that is on the field and find ways to make it work.  Go Jaguars!
