Jacksonville Jaguars Fall to the Tennessee Titans Once Again
By David Levin
The Jacksonville Jaguars could not get their offense going on Sunday afternoon, falling to the Tennessee Titans 9-6 at TIAA Bank Field. The loss drops Jacksonville’s record to 2-1 on the season. Tennessee is also 2-1 in the AFC South.
This was supposed to be a game the Jacksonville Jaguars had to trouble with. After losing 9-6 to the Tennessee Titans for the team’s first loss of the season, questions creep into the minds of many who had jumped on this team’s bandwagon last week following the victory over the New England Patriots.
Where was the high-octane offense Jacksonville unleashed last week? Did the loss of running back Leonard Fournette for a second consecutive week really make that much of a difference? Which Blake Bortles – the one last week or this week – will show up on a regular basis?
Bortles completed 21 of 34 passes but only threw for 155 yards. He had no touchdowns, did not throw an interception, but was sacked three times.

The defense held Blaine Gabbert and Marcus Mariota to 83 yards passing. The running game, led by Derrick Henry and Mariota, gave the Jacksonville front seven some issues.
Defensive end Calais Campbell had two sacks and had one negated because of a penalty on Malik Jackson for a hit on Gabbert that forced him out of the game with a concussion.
The Jaguars game planned for both Gabbert and Mariota, not knowing which quarterback would start.
News about Fournette’s absence came a couple of hours before the game. A lingering hamstring injury continues to force him out of the starting lineup, which did not prove to be a problem last week. This week, however, Tennessee did not allow the passing game to get started.T.J. Yeldon led the team with six catches for 46 yards.
Keelan Cole had five catches for 40 yards. He was targeted nine times.
Jaguars kicker Josh Lambo accounted for the team’s only scoring with two field goals. His second score, a 38-yard chip shot with 10:48 remaining in the game, tied the score at 6-6.
It was Lambo’s 16th consecutive made field goal, the third-best streak in franchise history.
