In 2017, Leonard Fournette showed the enormous potential that the Jacksonville Jaguars drafted him fourth overall to provide.

In an ever-evolving National Football League, the Jacksonville Jaguars remain true to their core. The team relies on a physical, run first style of offense to move the chains.

In order to effectively produce with a ground and pound philosophy, the Jaguars used the fourth overall selection of the 2017 NFL draft to select running back Leonard Fournette. It took just one season to see that pick will be paying dividends for the franchise for years to come.

Michael Fabiano, of NFL.com, comprised a list of the top overall rookie first-round producer of each season, all the way back to 2000, in terms of fantasy football. In 2017, Leonard Fournette was the biggest fantasy football year one star, according to Fabiano.

If you watched the Jaguars at all last year, that news comes as no surprise. Fournette splashed on to the scene last season. There certainly were no growing pains, as the running back played like anything but a rookie. Fournette was a bully in his first season in the backfield in Jacksonville. Despite missing three games, Fournette rushed for over 1,000 yards, and racked up 13 rushing touchdowns, including four in the postseason.

All signs point to 2017 being just the tip of the iceberg for Fournette as a superstar for the Jaguars. After crushing his first test in the highest level of football last season, and with the team having already signed the top guard in free agency, Leonard Fournette’s stats should only continue to soar moving forward.
