Chris Ivory will have more carries than Leonard Fournette: FACT

It’s safe to say every single fan of the Jacksonville Jaguars watching the game live last week held their breath when they saw Leonard Fournette writhing on the ground with an apparent leg injury.

It was the cap to an awful day and it seemed like perhaps the entire 2017 season was about to come crashing down for the Jaguars in one fell swoop.

Thankfully, we learned that it was just a minor ankle injury that wouldn’t have kept Fournette out for the rest of the game, but he’s still listed on the injury report.

Fournette has said this week that he’ll be ready to go, but the Jaguars face an interesting decision here as the head to Indianapolis: with the bye week coming up, do they crank down the workload for Fournette and give him a little more rest?

It’s not a ridiculous proposition given Fournette’s injury history in college and his importance for the Jaguars. Chris Ivory has run well this season and, while he certainly doesn’t provide the same breakaway ability, he can produce at a sufficient level.

I don’t think the Jaguars will completely shut Fournette down, but I wouldn’t be shocked if they (finally) activate the almost-forgotten T.J. Yeldon and spread the ball around a bit this week. Fournette will get 10-12 carries, but I expect Ivory to lead the way and Yeldon or Corey Grant to come in and spell the big guys here and there.
