Predicting the 2017 Jacksonville Jaguars schedule, part three: Old habits die hard.

Weeks 10-13 take center stage of this edition of our detailed look at the 2017 season for the Jacksonville Jaguars. If you missed the first two posts, you can read part one here, and part two here. At the midpoint of the season, the Jaguars currently sit at 4-4. Let’s see if it it sink or swim for Jacksonville in the second half of the season.

Week Ten: Los Angeles Chargers

Two words can sum up the Jacksonville Jaguars’ games against the Chargers of late: Philip Rivers. Saying Rivers has been a thorn in the Jaguars’ side is a massive understatement. Rivers is 6-1 in his career against the Jaguars, only losing his first matchup with Jacksonville in 2007, and has thrown 19 touchdowns and only four interceptions. The 2017 edition of the Jaguars defense has the makings to be its best in recent years, and the bolstered secondary will rattle Rivers more than he has become accustomed to against the Jaguars, but in the end Rivers will make a play late to rip the heart out of Jacksonville once again, and the misery versus the Chargers continues for another year for the Jaguars in a close one.

Score: Los Angeles Chargers 26-24

Record: 4-5

More from Jacksonville Jaguars News

Week Eleven: @ Cleveland Browns

A game played on the road in Cleveland, but one the Jaguars must have. A loss to the Browns, albeit a much-improved Browns team from last year, would signify that this Jaguars team still hasn’t adapted that killer instinct to put less talented teams away when they have the chance. Jacksonville gets the job done though, with a strong day from the rushing attack, and pick up another road win.

Score: Jacksonville 27-16

Record: 5-5

Week Twelve: @ Arizona Cardinals

Another road game, this time a journey to the west coast. The Arizona Cardinals had a down year in 2016 after making the conference championship the year prior. The clock is ticking for guys like Carson Palmer and Larry Fitzgerald to make a final push for the Super Bowl. Cardinals will get back to form in 2017 and make a charge for the playoffs. The combination of a west coast road trip and playing a team in the hunt for a division title leaves the Jaguars coming up short in Arizona.

Score: Arizona 27-17

Record: 5-6

Week Thirteen: Indianapolis Colts

By this point of the season, Indianapolis will need to go on a mini-run to try to stake claim to the AFC South title, while the Jaguars try to stay afloat and perhaps set themselves up for a chance at the crown themselves. Neither team will lead by double digits at any point in this game. This will be a game of who commits the fewest mistakes, but Indianapolis holds on in the final minute, and the Colts get revenge for the home loss to Jacksonville in week seven.

Score: Indianapolis 23-21

Record: 5-7

Analysis after week thirteen:

A rough stretch in the schedule sees the Jacksonville Jaguars dip to 5-7, and below .500 at a quarter mark of the 2017 season for the first time. With four games remaining and playing in the AFC South, the Jaguars are not done yet with games against the Houston Texans and Tennessee Titans still left, but the team must right the ship, and do it quickly. Will Jacksonville rise up and finish strong?
