The Jacksonville Jaguars are lacking some fantasy football firepower as the 2017 offseason gets underway.

Prior to the 2017 NFL Draft, the Jacksonville Jaguars must have been sorely lacking in fantasy football studs for owners to choose from. This comes, at least in part, because just two players landed on Bleacher Report’s top 50 list.

Of those two players, one has yet to play a down.

Taken fourth overall, Leonard Fournette comes in at 34th on BR’s list. That’s a respectable number, especially considering that Fournette has yet to even take a snap at the NFL level. The top running back from the 2017 NFL Draft certainly warrants some high consideration, especially given the running back position’s dominance in fantasy football.

The only other Jaguars player in the top 50 was stud wide receiver Allen Robinson, ranking just three spots higher at 31st. Robinson was an absolute steal in 2015 when he posted 1400 yards and 14 touchdowns but tapered off in 2016 to just 883 yards and six touchdowns. Those are hardly the kinds of numbers that make a wide receiver coveted in the fantasy world.

The lack of top talent for the Jaguars has been a perennial sticking point as Jacksonville’s fans hope to take some of their favorite players but are forced to forego that decision in favor of other teams’ stars. Fournette ranked just 13th among running backs, making him a solid RB2 option. Robinson ranked 16th at wide receiver, making him a likely WR2 option as well.

Sadly, until the Jags prove that the new-look offense is actually good enough to produce, it is unlikely that either Fournette or Robinson will rise any higher. And until any other Jaguars produce more (looking at Allen Hurns, Marqise Lee, or Blake Bortles, for example), they are not worth much consideration at this point.

For now, these way too early fantasy rankings are exactly what we should all expect. The Jags must prove they belong before anyone takes an early chance on them in fantasy football.
