With the new league year officially kicking off with the start of free agency, the Jacksonville Jaguars wasted no time in making a splash.

With a new regime in place, and desperate to shake the culture of continual losing, a big offseason was imperative for the Jacksonville Jaguars. With free agency underway, it was crucial that the Jaguars moved fast and didn’t strike out and, on day one, the Jaguars came up big.

Jacksonville jumped quick on inking deals with defensive end Calais Campbell, cornerback A.J. Bouye, and safety Barry Church. They also made official the trade with the Miami Dolphins for left tackle Branden Albert.

Jacksonville couldn’t afford to come up short, and there was a point were things did get dicey. They had to battle it out with the Tennessee Titans for A.J. Bouye, and as you can see below from NFL Network’s James Palmer, the Denver Broncos made a late push for Calais Campbell.

In the end the Jaguars got the job done, and with that, have brought in immediate contributors to the team.

But along with bringing in the increase in talent, these moves have opened the door for the Jaguars to have options with the fourth pick in the upcoming draft.

With the signing of Barry Church, the popular consensus that Jacksonville would select safety Jamal Adams from LSU may have gone out the window. I personally think the signing of Campbell doesn’t completely eliminate the chances that the Jaguars still take a defensive lineman if they have one they like and they feel the value is right.

What I do think Thursday’s additions mean, however, is that the team may be leaning towards taking a running back at pick four, with Leonard Fournette being the likely leader.

Picking Fournette in round one, while also drafting and/or signing offensive linemen to shore up the line would be a nice counter-balance to the free agent moves the team has already currently made, and help with alleviating the pressure on Blake Bortles in his make or break year.

Two things have come from the Jaguars moves so far in free agency that should have fans excited. Immediate x-factors have been brought in on the roster, and the team has multiple options to ponder with a top four pick in the draft.
