Round 4, pick 110: Corn Elder, CB, Miami

The Jaguars have a history of drafting players out of the state of Florida. This continues here with the small but underrated corner out of Miami. The leader of Miami’s defense last year, Elder had 12 passes broken up, 76 tackles, and an interception.

Although below the average height for an NFL cornerback, the Jaguars need some depth at the position. Davon House, who hasn’t played well enough to justify sticking around, and Prince Amukamara, free agent, make drafting a project cornerback smart.

Round 5, pick 148: Davis Webb, QB, Cal

In this mock, the talented quarterback falls all the way to the 5th round and the Jaguars are happy to swoop in. Last year, Davis transferred to the University of California from Texas Tech and had by far the best year of his college career. In 12 games, he threw for 4,295 yards and 37 touchdowns for a passing rating of 135.6. Davis can develop in to the Jaguars starting quarterback and overtake Bortles if need be.

Round 6, pick 187: Freddie Stevenson, FB, Florida State

With Tom Coughlin back in the front office and changes expected to happen, expect the Jaguars to add a fullback to the roster. Although there are many options available in free agency such as Kyle Juszczyk and Mike Tolbert, a young talented fullback this late would be a smart pick for them.

Paving the way for eventual top-15 pick Dalvin cook, Stevenson was a great blocker and pass catcher out of the backfield from Florida State. This is a great value pick this late in the draft for the Jaguars.

Round 7, pick 222: Darius Hamilton, DE, Rutgers

The former five star recruit out of North Jersey, the oft-injured Hamilton did not live up to his expectations. Hamilton recorded 56 tackles with 2.5 for a loss and .5 sacks this year. He has a chance to add some depth to the Jacksonville d-line.

Note: The Jaguars will likely be adding another seventh-round selection in the Julius Thomas trade to the Miami Dolphins. Until this trade is finalized after the start of the new league year, this mock draft does not reflect that added pick.
