Jacksonville Jaguars vs. Green Bay Packers: Keep Your Enemies Close – 5 Questions with Lombardi Ave
By Daniel Lago
3. The Packers defense looks solid at all 3 levels. Is there an area the Jaguars could possibly target and be successful?
"Inside linebacker is going to be an area to watch for the Packers. It appears as of right now, second year player Jake Ryan and rookie linebacker Blake Martinez will be called upon to anchor those spots. Joe Thomas is the the only remaining true inside linebacker to provide depth to the position, outside of moving Clay Matthews in. There may be some growing pains along the way."
My take:
If the middle of the defense is vulnerable, I expect the Jaguars to try and factor Julius Thomas heavily into the gameplan. The pricey tight end was barely mentioned during the preseason but reports indicate he’s in better shape and has shown more comfort in the offense this offseason. Thomas and Rashad Greene in the slot should get more targets than expected against an inside linebacker unit with plenty of questions.
