Week 1 of the regular season is finally here and the Jacksonville Jaguars got themselves a cupcake of an opponent in week 1.

Well, not really.

More from Jacksonville Jaguars News

The Jaguars probably aren’t thrilled to see the Green Bay Packers in week 1 of a season where head coach Gus Bradley needs to win in order to keep his job. After accumulating only 12 wins in his first three years, Bradley and company need show progress in the win column as well as on the field. The path to that progress starts off rough with a matchup against Aaron Rodgers.

We wanted to get some intel on our opponent so we reached out to Josh McPeak over at Lombardi Ave. Here’s what he had to say:

1. Aaron Rodgers had a “down” year last season despite still being one of the best quarterbacks in the league. What happened in 2015 and will things be better this season?

"What happened in 2015 was the perfect storm. The loss of Jordy Nelson all but completely ended a true reliable deep threat. An injured Randall Cobb was not nearly as effective without the outside threat of Nelson. A very disappointing sophomore season from Davante Adams and an out-of-shape Eddie Lacy did nothing to help the numbers from Aaron Rodgers. To start the 2016 season it appears they will begin with a “positive” perfect storm. Nelson is back and Lacy appears to be in somewhat better shape along with the addition of Jared Cook."

My take:

I agree and I think Rodgers is going to have a huge season. I wouldn’t be shocked if Rodgers put up massive numbers and comfortably won the MVP and the division. That said, I think it’ll take some time for he and Jordy Nelson to get into a groove again.

Next: Is Jordy ready?
