The Jaguars should have plenty of impact rookies, but which one will be the best?

Each season since David Caldwell took over in 2013 it seems at least one rookie has been able to come in and produce for the team. Out of the big names to come to Jacksonville from the 2016 draft let’s take a look at which Jaguars can make an immediate impact.

Jalen Ramsey

There has been plenty of hype written about the young defensive back. I believe Ramsey can come in almost immediately and impact the game, He will also fill the need at corner back  I believe Ramsey will come in and play well from the get go. One thing is for sure it will be fun to watch him wearing teal and black on Sundays.

My prediction. + 4 interceptions and +15 passes defended

More from Jacksonville Jaguars News

Yannick Ngakoue

This year’s third round pick out of Maryland finishing with the school’s single season sack record at thirteen -he definitely has talent. The question regarding him surround with half of his sack total coming in one year can he stay productive in the NFL? In a past article from B&T noted Ngakoue’s ability and writes he will finish ahead of Dante Fowler Jr. in sacks. Watching Yannick and Fowler compete against each other will be an exciting battle to watch and either way the upcoming season plays out watch for Ngakoue to make the most of 2016 season.

My Prediction, +4 sacks

Myles Jack

The Jags used the second round pick in this year’s draft to snag the UCLA linebacker. Questions surrounding his knee resulted in the slip in draft status, however when he is at one hundred percent many considered him a top ten talent. Managing to stay healthy will be a big factor in Jack’s performance but one thing is certain his talent is undeniable and whenever Jack gets on the field he will be able to improve the defense.

My Prediction, +50 tackles, 2 interceptions

Sheldon Day

A quiet selection in the fifth round was Sheldon Day. Day’s consistent motor and ability to get to the quarterback make him an intriguing study.  The D line this year has some serious firepower and it will only be a matter of time before Day can break into the consistent rotation. However Day is used this season, his addition will add another diverse talent to the defensive line.

My prediction, 6  sacks

Dante Fowler Jr.

Don’t forget about Dante. After his rookie season was put on hold after a knee injury at minicamp last season, Fowler was able to sit and watch an entire season. While I would have rather seen him on the field I’d like to think he was able to use his time to learn the defense and get ready for this upcoming season. There are expectations for Fowler this season and it will be fun to watch the season unfold to see how he holds up to them.

My prediction, +8 sacks

Brandon Allen

Allen spent three years with the Razorbacks. I’d like to think this move was a sign that Chad Henne’s days in Jacksonville are winding down and Dave Caldwell has a plan to bridge that gap. Allen played explosively at times during his college career, however unless something serious happens this season don’t expect Allen to play to much but look for further development down the line.

My prediction, Limited if any playing time.

This year’s rookie class is headlined with big names and defensively focused, with all these exciting new faces one thing is certain the jags defense will be vastly upgraded. This draft class has so much potential, whether it’s any of the players mentioned above or another rookie breaks onto the scene the Jags will be looking back on the 2015 draft class and smile. Each player brings a unique quality, play-style and skill set to the team and as the season looms ever closer it will be interesting to see which player comes in and make impact plays for our jags.
