Fantasy predictions: Jacksonville Jaguars defense is poised to have a big year according to Adam Rank
The Jacksonville Jaguars were relevant in fantasy football in 2015 and their impact could grow in 2016.
Fantasy football has been increasingly more popular in recent years and with introduction of websites fanduel and draftkings people are taking the game more seriously than ever. The point of the game is to assemble a team of players and depending how they perform on game day can be rewarded points for various things like a reception yards or touchdowns. Sometimes these games can come down to a tenth of a point and having an advantage over your opponent can mean all the difference.
Each season it seems like some player has a breakout year and everyone begins scrambling to pick them up. Last season the Jacksonville Jaguars found breakout stars in Allen Robinson, Allen Hurns and Blake Bortles. In a recent article by NFL.com Adam Rank describes his top 16 2016 bold fantasy predictions and wouldn’t you know it the jaguars made the list but not for the reasons above. Rank mentions the defense and special teams in his bold predictions article and states
"“6. All the cool kids will want to have the Jaguars D/ST.My friends down in Duval County, Florida are going to be really good this year. I just hope the defense isn’t so good it negatively impacts the offense.”"

This was awesome to read, the defense had been taking strides under Gus Bradley for some time and having a solid fantasy value can validate his hard work. Rank stated the he “hopes the defense isn’t so good it negatively impacts the offense” and personally if the defense lives up to these predictions and does in fact take away from the offensive production of the team that will be okay by me.
While it’s nice when individual players have big games to help a team sometimes fantasy value doesn’t always translate to wins. However one promising thing to note with a defense in fantasy football is that it’s graded on how many points a team gives up or how many turnovers they acquire, so having a solid fantasy defense is a safe bet that the team’s defense is just as good. They say defense wins championships so this season grab the jaguar’s defense and win one in fantasy football.
