Jacksonville Jaguars ranked 13th in Pete Prisco’s post-draft power rankings
By Daniel Lago
The Jacksonville Jaguars had perhaps the best draft class of any team in the NFL, and some analysts think that’s enough to propel them into the playoff conversation.

In case you haven’t been paying attention, the Jacksonville Jaguars are a significantly more talented team than they were a week ago. We have general manager
David Caldwellto thank after he put together what might ultimately be the most important draft class in franchise history.
With dire needs at multiple positions on defense, the Jaguars added 2 blue chip prospects – Jalen Ramsey in the first round and Myles Jack in the 2nd round. Ramsey and Jack will serve as immediate upgrades at cornerback and linebacker, and they’ll be getting some help from 2015 first round pick Dante Fowler Jr. as he makes his debut in 2016.
Those 3 rookies join a fairly impressive free agent influx on the defensive side of the ball and the projection of the defense improving is a reasonable leap to make.
Pete Prisco of CBS Sports thinks the Jaguars improved enough to make them a top-half-of-the-league team – 13th in his post-draft power rankings.
"13 – Jacksonville Jaguars. They were dynamic on offense last season, and now they might be just as good on defense. Adding Jalen Ramsey, Myles Jack and four others over the weekend will elevate that unit."
Although he’s not saying it explicitly, this means Prisco thinks the Jaguars should make the playoffs. Following his rankings, he probably thinks the Jaguars will win the AFC South, considering he has the Jaguars ranked ahead of the Indianapolis Colts (14th) and the Houston Texans (16th).
I don’t disagree.
Of all the teams in the AFC South, none made more important and impactful roster moves than the Jaguars. The Texans are counting on Brock Osweiler to come in and become a franchise quarterback, but he wasn’t any better statistically than Brian Hoyer, the guy they unceremoniously kicked out the door after last year. The Colts are a complete unknown with Andrew Luck coming back from injury, and their roster is unimpressive as a whole. The Titans have an intriguing young quarterback in Marcus Mariota… but Mike Mularkey is their coach.
The Jaguars should be a better team in 2016. I’m not sure about 13th, but they should be in the running for the AFC South.
