Jacksonville Jaguars 2016 NFL Draft: Myles Jack taken in Round 2
By Luke Sims
The Jacksonville Jaguars ended up making a play to get Myles Jack in the 2016 NFL Draft despite announcing they wanted to stay put at 38th overall.
The Jacksonville Jaguars gave up pick 38 (second round) and their 146th pick (fifth round) in order to move up to pick 36 and get the player everyone wanted them to take in the 2016 NFL Draft: Myles Jack.
This was the kind of move everyone hoped for but nobody really anticipated because of a recent tweet with an unnamed Jaguars source that said the team would not be trading up.

And yet it happened.
This was the absolute best pick by the Jaguars, securing a second steal of a top player in the 2016 NFL Draft. With Jalen Ramsey (selected fifth overall in the first round) and Jack, the Jaguars have added significant upgrades to the defense. The Jaguars defense has suddenly become considerably more formidable and able to finally provide the backbone that the offense can rely on, no longer forcing the team into shootouts.
General manager Dave Caldwell made an excellent move to get exactly what the Jaguars needed and will be remembered for the next few years for making an impressive move to take the guy that everyone wanted.
There was little doubt who the Jaguars would be selecting when they announced their trade. This is where Jack belongs and will be a force to be reckoned with in Jacksonville.
Just a brilliant move. Not much more to say about that. Just brilliant.
