2016 NFL Draft: Baltimore Ravens wanted to trade up for Jalen Ramsey
By Luke Sims
The first round of the 2016 NFL Draft just keeps getting weirder and weirder even after it is over and the Jacksonville Jaguars are happily celebrating getting their player in Jalen Ramsey.
When the Dallas Cowboys were on the clock at fourth overall it was widely speculated they could take Jalen Ramsey, thereby securing a player that many think was the best in the 2016 NFL Draft.
But the Cowboys went another direction and drafted running back Ezekiel Elliott instead. In fact, they wanted Elliott so badly that they turned down trade overtures from the Baltimore Ravens, who were hoping to move up to fourth overall to take Ramsey. The news comes from the Baltimore Ravens team site and from Adam Schefter on Twitter.
What may be the best part about drafting Ramsey is that he is the best player in the draft.

Finding out that other teams were possibly fighting over the possibility of moving up and picking him just makes it sweeter. The Jags stood their ground and took whichever defensive player fell to them. That player was Ramsey and it was a delightful draft moment that will be a fond memory for years to come.
Meanwhile, Ozzie Newsome and the Baltimore Ravens must have been supremely frustrated as they worked to make a deal that would never come to fruition. Ultimately, they missed out on a player that could become an All-Pro in the secondary and the Jags are able to gloat about it for the coming seasons.
We’ll have to see if the Jags make any other powerful selections in the second and third rounds of the draft tonight.
