It’s finally draft day which means we’re going to see a barrage of last minute mock drafts with analysts trying to decipher which reports are true and which aren’t. The Jacksonville Jaguars are a virtual certainty to select a defensive player with the number 5 overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft, likely choosing either Florida State defensive back Jalen Ramsey or Ohio State defensive end Joey Bosa. Myles Jack, formerly a favorite for the Jaguars, might take a huge tumble tonight if teams are scared off by reports that his knee could limit his career long term.

One guy who usually does a good job with mock drafts is ESPN analyst Todd McShay. He just released his final mock and has the Jaguars taking Bosa.

"5. Jacksonville JaguarsJoey Bosa, DE, Ohio StateThe Jaguars need a player who can come in and be a difference-maker from day one, and Bosa is that guy. His tape was consistently great throughout his final two seasons at Ohio State, and he plays with a relentlessness that can’t be taught."

I have no problem with this, but it’s interesting to see how far McShay has Jack falling down the board (number 16 overall to the Detroit Lions). In this scenario, McShay has Ramsey going to the Cowboys at 4 so it’s a no-brainer to take Bosa in that spot.

We still have several hours before the draft so we could be seeing a lot of smoke about the Jaguars trading up or down, especially if Laremy Tunsil is available at 5. McShay is projecting the San Diego Chargers taking Ronnie Stanley over Tunsil at number 3, so the possibility to trade back might be there. Still, I think the Jaguars will ultimately stand pat and take Bosa. Pairing the Ohio State prospect with Dante Fowler Jr. gives the Jaguars a duo of every-down defensive ends that can rush the passer and hold up against the run.
