The Jacksonville Jaguars have plenty of options at fifth overall and 2016 NFL mock drafts are reflective of that, with Mike Mayock’s lone mock giving the Jaguars cornerback/safety Jalen Ramsey.

Jalen Ramsey to the Jacksonville Jaguars? Sounds pretty good.

Mike Mayock released his only mock draft of the year (as per usual) on the eve of the 2016 NFL Draft. In his mock draft, the Jacksonville Jaguars easily land the best secondary player in the class: Florida State’s Jalen Ramsey.

Mayock had this to say about the selection:

"The Jaguars can’t believe Ramsey is still available at No. 5. Coach Gus Bradley loves long cornerbacks. All of a sudden the Jaguars possess a pass defense that could be outstanding."

There’s no doubt that selecting Ramsey would be excellent for the Jags defense.

More from Black and Teal

Bradley has been trying to build a “Seattle South” defense for years and Ramsey is a perfect fit both at cornerback and at safety. With the new free agent additions of Tashaun Gipson and Malik Jackson- to name a few, the defense will have almost an entirely new look and Ramsey can be a star among even those established veterans.

Ramsey offers the Jaguars flexibility in the secondary and provides an opportunity for the team to lock down one side of the field. If he is available at fifth overall, it’s an easy selection to make and it solidifies the 2016 offseason revamp of the Jaguars defense.

What is perhaps the most interesting about Mayock’s mock draft is that the often-mocked linebacker Myles Jack takes a “long” slide from a top-five selection to the Oakland Raiders at 14th overall. If that happens, for whatever reason, the Jags will be come away pretty happy to get a consensus top selection at fifth overall. Ramsey is a home run hit, to be sure.
