The Jacksonville Jaguars continue to get no love from those who bet on football, being favored to win just one game in 2016.

If you’ve paid attention to the Jacksonville Jaguars offseason, there is some very real hype building around the team. There’s a chance they could make a run at .500 and an outside chance that they will contend for a playoff spot.

Of course, if you don’t pay attention to the Jags and look around at who’s favored based on the spreads, it’s disappointing to see that they are favored in just one game by CG Technology. Same old Jaguars, right?

For those of us caught up in the pre-draft optimism, this is harsh dose of reality. It’s not popping this writer’s optimism bubble, but it certainly takes a bit of a hit.

The Jags join nine other teams that are favored in four games or less. Worse, the only teams favored in one game or less are the Jacksonville Jaguars, Tennessee Titans (one game), Cleveland Browns (zero games), and San Francisco 49ers (zero games). After a 5-11 effort in 2015, this is almost a slap in the face, especially considering the Jags’ peers in these way early spreads.

Fox Sports has a pretty handy breakdown of the spreads, but the news still isn’t good for the Jaguars. While other teams get plenty of attention and favorable spreads, the Jags lag behind. The Indianapolis Colts are the only AFC South team favored in at least eight games (at eight exactly).

No matter what the people making the odds say, there are plenty of winnable games on the 2016 schedule for the Jaguars. There will be more W’s than just one when the season comes to a close next winter.
