Jacksonville Jaguars reportedly in the running for Malik Jackson
By Daniel Lago
The NFL’s “legal” tampering period for free agency began Monday at noon meaning teams were now free to talk and negotiate with players and their agents. Nobody can sign just yet, but we as fans can at least have an idea of which teams are interested in which players.
With an absurd amount of cap space at their disposal, the Jacksonville Jaguars are going to be linked to plenty of high profile players. One of the biggest ones is Denver Broncos defensive tackle Malik Jackson.

Coming off what was a dominant stretch of play in the postseason en route to a Super Bowl Ring, Jackson is going to cash in big time and command a huge contract. The Jaguars can afford it and would slide Jackson right into the 3-technique defensive tackle spot, but they have some stiff competition in the Oakland Raiders among others.
The Jaguars might also have to compete with Jackson’s old team.
"However, the Broncos are not out of the Malik sweepstakes because the team just received $19 million in cash savings from Peyton Manning’s retirement and the team is trying to finalize salary reductions for outside linebacker DeMarcus Ware and left tackle Ryan Clady."
The Broncos still have to negotiate a long term deal with all-word pass rusher Von Miller so they don’t have a ton of room to maneuver with, but they have familiarity as a strong factor in their favor. They likely wouldn’t be able to match a deal offered by the Jaguars, but a team like the Raiders can also overspend to bring Jackson in.
The Malik Jackson sweepstakes is going to be one of the more intriguing storylines over the next few days.
