More from Jacksonville Jaguars News

The Jacksonville Jaguars didn’t play this past week but they still won the bye week as the made it into week 9 without any additional injuries or bad news. They have what is becoming an increasingly easy slate of games ahead of them and they could potentially catapult themselves into playoff contention thanks to a milquetoast AFC South.

Here’s where the Jaguars fell in some of the power rankings around the web after their bye week:

FanSided

"27. Jacksonville JaguarsLAST WEEK: 31Since the Jaguars had a bye in Week 8, here is their grade out from Week 7."

FOX Sports

"30. Jaguars (2-5) HIGH: 26 / LOW: 32When your defense allows the second-most points per game (29.6), it doesn’t matter how well Blake Bortles is moving the football — especially since he has thrown eight interceptions in seven games."

ESPN.com

"29. JaguarsThe Jaguars’ two wins this season have been against AFC East teams. They can make it three this week, as they take on the Jets."

CBS Sports – Pete Prisco

"30. JaguarsDon’t look now, but they are in the thick of the AFC South race. The offense will be tough to handle the rest of the way."

CBS Sports – Pat Kirwan

"29. Jaguars :Another team that is putting together some pieces, but needs to learn how to win games. Last Week: 28"

NFL.com – Elliot Harrison

"29. JaguarsAnother bye team, which was somewhat unfortunate in that the Jags had to take a pause before attempting to carry over momentum from the big Week 7 win in London.I’ll tell you one thing: Fans around the country — particularly fantasy owners — are starting to notice the Allen boys. The production from the Jags’ two second-year wideouts has been top-notch. Robinson and Hurns have combined for 65 receptions, but the most relevant statistic is that both are in the top 10 in yards per catch (Robinson at 17.2, Hurns at 16.5). It’s not all dinks and dunks in Jacksonville."

My take:

The Jaguars didn’t do anything to change my opinion about them this week – I still think they bumbled through what should have been an easy win against the Buffalo Bills. Yes, there appear to be worse teams in the league but the Jaguars need to prove they are better than these bad teams before I give them a little more respect..

My ranking for the Jaguars after week 6: 29
