Coming off a tough week where they saw
their best offensive lineman go down for the season
, the Jacksonville Jaguars end their three-game road trip against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. With the division now firmly in the grasp of the Indianapolis Colts after their Thursday night win against the Houston Texans, the Jaguars need to beat
Jameis Winstonand the Bucs in order to keep pace with the incumbent division champions.
Heading into this matchup, the Jaguars have to be intent on finishing drives that get into the redzone. Despite producing a fair bit of yardage against the Colts last week (431 total yards), the Jaguars only mustered a pathetic 13 points. Moving the ball efficiently isn’t enough – the Jaguars need to get the ball in the endzone and capitalize on the big plays they manage to pop.
On the other side of the ball, all eyes will be on the first overall pick leading the Tampa Bay squad. Coming off a horrific 4 interception performance, it would make sense to see Winston keep it close to the vest and try to cut down on the turnovers. Aside from his occasional poor decision, Winston has shown the ability to drive the ball down the field and get big chunks of yardage regularly. He has two big weapons on the outside in Mike Evans and Vincent Jackson, and Doug Martin has shown some life in the backfield.
This will be an interesting matchup, especially if both quarterbacks can get going early.
