2015 NFL Mock Draft: Jaguars go defense in first 2 rounds

We’re only 4 weeks into the 2015 NFL regular season, but that doesn’t stop the draftniks from going into full projection mode. The Jacksonville Jaguars are finally hoping this is the year they stop getting top 10 draft picks, and fans are clinging on to the possibility that they can avoid draft talk for at least a few more weeks. The Jaguars can still salvage this season with a couple of wins in the next 2 weeks, but looking ahead doesn’t hurt.

Carl Cockerham over at With the First Pick recently released his 2-round mock draft and he has the Jaguars with the 8th pick in the first and second round. Here are the two players he slotted in for the Jags:

"8. JALEN RAMSEY CB, Florida StateThe Jacksonville Jaguars say this year is not make or break for left tackle Luke Joekel. So I’m going to believe them as head coach Gus Bradley builds his defense. Here at No. 7, the Jaguars take a corner to go with edge-rusher Dante Fowler next year.40. KARL JOSEPH FS, West Virginia"

"Even though the Jaguars don’t have 2015 1st-round pick Dante Fowler, they still get pressure the quarterback. But they have no one to take advantage as their safety has one INT in six years. So they address that one round after getting a corner."

Cornerback has been a popular pick among draft analysts for the Jaguars and I can see why. While the secondary isn’t a disaster, the Jaguars don’t have any playmakers or “ballhawks” on that side of the field. I personally would take Vernon Hargreaves III over Jalen Ramsey (homer pick), but I understand the logic here.

Same with Karl Joseph in the second round, although I think the Jaguars will wait and see how James Sample looks over the course of the year before investing another pick in that spot.

What do you guys think?
