Jared Odrick, defensive end, Jacksonville Jaguars
No player has stock rising more than Jared Odrick after the Week 2 game against his former team. He put up an absolutely stunning display of strength, skill, and preparation that was too much for the Miami Dolphins to handle.
The new defensive end for the Jacksonville Jaguars punished his former team for letting him walk out the door as they added Ndamukong Suh to their roster. The highest graded defensive end from Pro Football Focus, Odrick’s sack, one QB hit, and three QB pressures speak for themselves. He also stripped the ball on his sack, forcing the Dolphins to their one-yard line, setting up the game-winning drive for the Jaguars.
Playing like a man possessed, Jared Odrick was a terror. In the second half he looked especially good, putting together plays that more than compensated for the fact that the Jags’ secondary was dropping like flies.
After a disappointing debut against the Carolina Panthers in Week 1, it was nice to see just what Odrick is capable of. Some of it can likely be attributed to him playing his former team and the familiarity there, but some of it is just pure skill and a professional approach to each and every week.
Hats off to Odrick. He deserves a game ball.
