Prowling The Web: Allen Robinson, Blake Bortles struggle
By Luke Sims
Allen Robinson and Blake Bortles certainly weren’t alone in struggling against the Carolina Panthers in Week 1 of the 2015 regular season. They get their fair share of media attention, however.
Jacksonville Jaguars offense still suffering from stagnation – Bleacher Report
"Instead, the offense suffered a breakdown of composure at the hands of QB Blake Bortles. It’s not completely his fault (just look at the numerous drops), but his pick-six to put the Panthers ahead 17-9 was the moment the offense hit rock bottom. As seen in the table below, it was a tale of two halves for Bortles. Ending the first half with a stellar two-minute offensive drive seemed like it could create momentum, but that was canceled out by his gift to Panthers corner Josh Norman for the score on the first drive of the second half."
Allen Robinson inefficient in Jacksonville Jaguars loss – Fantasy Pros
"“A-Rob” is not to be totally blamed for Sunday’s lackluster performance as Blake Bortles was under duress from the Carolina D for most of the game. However, it is best to reign in expectations and play Robinson as a strong FLEX option next week at home against the Dolphins."
Allen Robinson struggles in opener, and other notes – Black & Teal
"Blake Bortles should also be singled out. After a stellar preseason, he came out completely flat and managed to complete just 55% of his 40 pass attempts. He accumulated just 182 yards through the air with one touchdown and two interceptions. It was his first multi-interception game since Week 8 of his rookie season. One of them was returned for a touchdown that really took the wind out of the Jags’ sails."
Blake Bortles struggles as Jaguars drop opener against Panthers – Fox Sports
"Allen Hurns, Allen Robinson and rookie Rashad Greene dropped passes. Hurns also fumbled. Rookie kicker Jason Myers missed a 44-yard field goal and an extra point. The Jaguars were 3-of-12 on third-down conversions, with new coordinator Greg Olson calling the shots. And Bortles was off most of the afternoon. He finished 22 of 40 for 183 yards, with a touchdown, two interceptions and five sacks. His first interception ended with the fifth pick-six in his 14 career starts."
