More from Jacksonville Jaguars News

The wait is finally over. The Jacksonville Jaguars finally play a regular season football game for the first time in 2015 as they host the Carolina Panthers in the opening week of the NFL.

The Jaguars are hoping they can improve in the category that counts the most as they head into 2015 – wins.

Having posted only 7 wins in two years under head coach Gus Bradley and general manager David Caldwell, the Jacksonville Jaguars are hoping they can make a significant leap on the shoulders of the second year quarterback Blake Bortles.

While the playoff hopes of the franchise ride on the broad shoulders of the young signal caller out of UCF, there are plenty of new acquisitions who should play a big role in helping the team climb to relevance.

Free agent additions Jared Odrick, Davon House, Jermey Parnell, Sergio Brown, Stefan Wisniewski, and Dan Skuta are all slated to start and should play key roles throughout 2015. The improvement in the roster brought on by these new players and the development of rookies from the 2013 and 2014 draft class should propel the Jaguars to competitiveness.

Their 2015 campaign opens up against a 2014 playoff winner in the Carolina Panthers.

Despite their playoff appearance in 2014, the Panthers present a solid matchup for the Jaguars outside of Pro Bowl quarterback Cam Newton. The Panthers are hurting in the secondary and along the defensive line, meaning the new look offense under Greg Olson should thrive.
