Julius Thomas: Will miss Preseason with fracture

Julius Thomas left the game against the Pittsburgh Steelers in the first quarter on Friday night with an injury to his hand.

We all held our breath hoping that it wasn’t anything serious and breathed a sigh or relief to learn that he’ll only miss the rest of the preseason. Head coach Gus Bradley is confident that Thomas will make it back in time for the regular season, saying, “hopefully, if everything works alright, he’ll be back ready for the first game.” He also noted that the injury is quick to heal.

This is good news for us Jags fans, especially in light of the torn ACL suffered by Dante Fowler Jr.

While the game went on and the Jaguars ultimately won, it’s tough to know that a guy like Julius Thomas will be missing the rest of the preseason. He’s the most exciting big-name to come to Jacksonville this offseason and he’s expected to wow when on the field.

Last night before being injured Thomas contributed with one catch for two yards.

That’s hardly the kind of memory that a guy like Julius Thomas wants lingering in our heads as the team gears up for the star of the regular season.

Hopefully things come together well and he’s able to heal by the time the 2015 opener rolls around. The Jaguars are relying on Thomas not missing games as their offense centers around him as a primary weapon. Blake Bortles could really use a target like Thomas in the passing game and, particularly, in the red zone.
