2015 NFL Draft: Rashad Greene Comes to the Jaguars

Rashad Greene is a steal in the fifth round of the 2015 NFL Draft. The Jacksonville Jaguars are the team making off like a bandit.

The Florida State product doesn’t have to leave the state, joining the Jaguars to compete in a young wide receiver corps that proved to be better than expected in 2014.

A Biletnikoff Award semifinalist in 2014, Greene has an impressive 3830 yards in his collegiate career with 270 receptions and 29 touchdowns. He has four solid years of production with over 1000 yards in each of the last two seasons.

Projected to go in the third or fourth round, Greene slid to the fifth and the Jaguars happily picked him up. He will be able to provide another great option for Blake Bortles, infusing some more talent into a wide receiving group that is already highly talented but could use more consistency. He has big play potential, being the guy FSU turned to when they needed someone to do something special.

Picking up Rashad Greene is an excellent move by general manager Dave Caldwell. He waited to address the wide receiver position and found himself with a gem on sitting there for him in the fifth round. In terms of value, this is an excellent pick. He can come in and be a productive slot receiver immediately, which is exactly what the Jaguars needed as well.

A lot of the 2015 offseason has been about making sure Blake Bortles has the tools in place to be successful. The Jags front office continues that trend by bringing in Greene, expecting him to be a key weapon for Bortles.

It’s hard not to like this pick, proving that Caldwell is gifted at finding the right players in the draft, whether trading for them or simply waiting for them to fall into his lap. The Jaguars offense is going to be better in 2015 and Greene should figure as a prominent role in that.
