DeMarco Murray Leaves Jaguars, Raiders, Cowboys Hanging
By Luke Sims
DeMarco Murray let the first day of the 2015 NFL Free Agency period slip by without signing a new contract with any team.
What we learned is that the Oakland Raiders and the Jacksonville Jaguars are both incredibly interested in signing the reigning NFL rushing champion and that the Dallas Cowboys are still intrigued as well. We also learned that the DeMarco Murray Sweepstakes can only get more and more interesting.
Despite strong attempts from the two teams with the most cap space in the NFL, Murray played the day cool and stayed silent on who he will be signing with or who may be the leading team in his mind. He ended the day attending the Dallas Mavericks game.
For those who are eagerly watching to see what Murray will do, the first day of free agency was a bit anti-climactic. While other big name free agents like Julius Thomas and Darrelle Revis came to terms with their new respective teams (Jaguars and New York Jets, respectively), Murray opted to feel out his options to find the team that offers the best situation for him.
The Jaguars could definitely us an upgrade at the running back position, but it is a bit more of a luxury, albeit one that they can afford. The Raiders are a bit more stacked at the running back position with Latavius Murray and newly-signed Roy Helu. They, like the Jaguars could certainly afford to retain DeMarco Murray’s services.
Still an hour left in the first day, but hopefully Murray won’t keep us all waiting with baited breath too long, as the 2015 free agency period continues to keep us all glued to our Twitter feeds.
