Are the Jacksonville Jaguars finally built? That question has lingered over the Jags for the last year and a half. In 2015 it was painfully clear that the team wasn’t ready to compete. They won five games (the high water mark since 2012) but it certainly wasn’t pretty.

The blowouts need to stop. The mental lapses need to stop. The mistakes on offense need to stop. There’s a lot to improve.

But the personnel in place can finally deliver. The players have the mental fortitude and physical ability to deliver for a Jaguars team that is hungry for wins. The right pieces are in place.

Those players need to now prove that they can successfully implement the game plan and execute on each and every down. 2016 is meant to be a different year for this football team. It’s meant to be the year when everything finally comes together. If the players are able to do their jobs, they may just come away with enough victories to be relevant in December.

With that in mind, there are plenty of players to watch in the season opener against the Green Bay Packers. The Jags need these players to step up and deliver or they won’t even make this game competitive, much less come away with a surprise victory.

Here are five guys to watch in Week 1 of the 2016 NFL season.
