Jacksonville Jaguars Week 16 Power Rankings: Staying Low

facebooktwitterreddit

The Jacksonville Jaguars put up a solid effort on Sunday, but they fell short in a 20-12 loss against the Baltimore Ravens. While moral victories are starting to old, there were plenty of positive things to take away from the defeat. The defense continues to play well despite numerous injuries, and Blake Bortles is starting to flash more often than he had in previous weeks. They aren’t a good team, but the Jaguars are starting to show signs that they can compete with the upper-level teams.

Here’s where the Jaguars fell in some of the power rankings around the web:

NFL Spin Zone – Ernie Padaon

"30. Jacksonville Jaguars 2-12Last week: 20-12 L BALLast rank: 29thThe Jaguars were doing all they could to stay in the game against the Ravens on Sunday in the first half, but they could not sustain it throughout the game. They get their chance at their 3rd win when they face off against the Titans on Thursday Night Football. The battle of the basement teams in that one. I expect the Jaguars to get another win after that one."

FOXSports – Dan Schneier

"27. JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS (2-12) HIGH: 27 / LOW: 32The Jaguars have played inspired defense over the last month and they are really starting to get the hang of Gus Bradley’s scheme. Unfortunately, the talent level throughout the roster is just not high enough to win in the NFL."

ESPN.com

"30. JaguarsBlake Bortles’ minus-1.7 yards per dropback average against the blitz Sunday was the third-lowest average by any quarterback with at least 10 dropbacks in the past nine seasons"

CBS Sports – Pete Prisco

"32. JaguarsThey are getting better, and they have a real chance to get a victory Thursday night against the Titans. Blake Bortles does have a foot injury that could keep him out."

CBS Sports – Pat Kirwan

"30. Jaguars (29): Don’t be fooled by the record, the Jags have plenty of fight and I like this club’s foundation. Unfortunately, Andrew Luck still plays in the same division and it will take a lot to raise the Jags to his level."

NFL.com – Elliot Harrison

"30. JaguarsA lot of positives to be gleaned from the Jags’ showing in Baltimore, even if fans in Jacksonville are sick and tired of reading sentences like this. Shoot, you guys are probably sick and tired of being sick and tired. But you have to admit, that defense has been looking better."
