Blake Bortles to Start Against San Diego Chargers

It took practically no time at all for Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Gus Bradley to name rookie quarterback Blake Bortles the starter for the Jags heading into next week against the San Diego Chargers.

The hype around Bortles may be the only thing that has been proven right so far this season. The kid can play.

Everyone around Blake Bortles was electrified when he came in to replace Chade Henne against the Indianapolis Colts. His presence and inspiration on offense was almost enough to forget that the team was still blown out 44-17.

It’s easy to forget the score when the rookie QB put all 17 of those points up during his time on the field.

It’s easy to forget the score when Bortles is able to get first downs after the anemic offense in the first half saw less than 100 yards of production.

The Blake Bortles era starts against San Diego next week and from then on we’ll be counting the score for the rookie. He’s got 13 more games to continue to dazzle. His two touchdowns, two interceptions, and 223 passing yards (with 20 more rushing) left the fan base wanting more. This week he could come out and sling it with no fear because the game was already out of hand. Next week we will be treated to Bortles executing a game plan for a full 60 minutes.

I can’t wait.

We were told to wait for a full season before seeing Bortles suit up and lead the team onto the field. We wanted more after a stellar preseason. We got our wish two and half games into the season. Now we can’t wait to see more from the rookie.
