Earlier this evening, ESPN draft gurus Mel Kiper and Todd McShay participated in a three round mock draft. The two alternated making selections for each team, based on what they thought the team should do. For full results, you can view the entire mock here  (NOTE: You must be an ESPN Insider to view the whole mock.)

Well, the results are in, and I must say they probably won’t be overly popular with Jaguars fans.

  • Round One: Khalil Mack, OLB/LEO – Buffalo
  • Round Two: Tom Savage, QB – Pitt
  • Round Three: Josh Huff, WR – Oregon

Now, it’s worth noting that Jadeveon Clowney went first to Houston, and Sammy Watkins went second to St. Louis. In my mind, this is probably the worst thing that could happen to the Jaguars on actual draft night. However, I also believe this is still a very manageable situation, with the only thing most likely being lost is the ability to trade down. If I were the Jaguars in this situation, I would pick a quarterback, preferably Teddy Bridgewater or even Johnny Manziel.

What I would not do is what happened in this mock, selecting Khalil Mack. I think Mack could be a good, but not great, player. Therefore I just don’t value him at the number three overall selection. As for Tom Savage, I am not a big fan, and would have already handled my need at QB in the 1st round. Xavier Su’a-Filo was still available at pick 39, and I would have sprinted to the podium with his name on a card. Josh Huff is a receiver I actually like, so I don’t hate the pick, especially with centers Marcus Martin and Weston Richburg off the board.

What do you guys think of this mock? Would you be jumping for joy if this happened on draft day, or sobbing the night away?
