Unlike myself, football news doesn’t take breaks to visit family across the state so let’s catch up on all the Jaguar news I was ignoring for turkey and pecan pie.
The Jacksonville Jaguars, as of today, are 15 years old. Maybe that is why they are performing poorly. It is those rebellious teenage years gettin’ to them. Vic Ketchman wrote a lovely piece about his best memories of covering the Jacksonville Jaguars. Of all of them, I think this is the most interesting part:
Byron Leftwich—Simply put, he is the most misunderstood, underappreciated and abused player I have ever covered. I’m not gonna tell you [...]

Happy Birthday, Jaguars.
Can It Be Fixed?
We, as Jaguar fans, have probably already moved into that “acceptance” phase of excepting the death of the season. If you haven’t by now, I expect that you’ll be pretty heart broken as the rest of the season plays out.
We know what our problems are:
Our quarterback looks scared.
Our running backs can’t get going.
Our offensive line gets more than enough holding calls in one game.
Our receivers can’t make the big plays.
Our pass rush is nonexistent against any capable offensive line.
We can’t stop them on third and short.
We can’t stop them on third and long.
Smart quarterbacks pick us apart.
We allow for the [...]
AFC South Break Down: Week 12
(Jeanne Alexis writes for Black & Teal, which is FSB’s Jacksonville Jaguars blog. Representing the rest of the AFC South are Naptown’s Finest, Titan Sized and Toro Times.)
Have you heard of that strange phenomena where people have… divisional pride? You hear college fans do it all the time. “The SEC is the best division in college football.” I think it is even more odd in college because college rivalries run deep. However, in both the NFL and in the NCAA the is a sort of pride there. I think it comes from being able to contend in a tough division, from having your team [...]
You know what is awesome? Sensational headlines.
Oh, wait. No. That isn’t awesome at all.
Vic Carcucci wrote an article for NFL.com called “With season slipping away, Del Rio losing grip on his team”. That is a pretty lofty claim that would explain a lot. However, if you glance over the article there is nothing supporting that claim. Not even an anonymous source. There is just a detailed description of the problems the team as a whole have been experiencing.
So. Basically. It is a misleading headline to make you speculate the reason why the Super Bowl contenders Jacksonville Jaguars turned into the Losing Record Jacksonville Jaguars. We all want our [...]
Troy Williamson. The Jacksonville Jaguars picked the guy up for a fifth round draft pick from the Vikings. That statement right there tells you how willingly the Vikings gave him up, especially when you consider he was drafted seventh over all. It seems as if the Jaguars picked him up with a “what could it hurt?” mentality. They needed a potential big play receiver and they were willing to take a chance on Troy Williamson.
So far, Williamson has gotten the Jaguars one touchdown. Why is this? Well. It is Troy Williamson, right? That question answers itself, right? Not exactly. He [...]
No One To Blame But Ourselves
A lot of the time, I am the only hardcore Jaguar fan a person knows. People seek me out after major wins and losses to talk about them. Lately, the question I have heard from most people is, “So, Jeanne, what the heck has happened?” Everyone loves pointing out that we were supposed to go to the playoffs this year and run the table. Yeah, yeah. This is the NFL. It wouldn’t be fun if it all worked out the way it was supposed to. Unfortunately, the Jacksonville Jaguars are this year’s team that didn’t live up to expectations.
So, really, [...]
I know sports superstitions are very silly but, you know, what could they hurt? I am wearing my lucky hat to the game and I am not doing a preview. Sorry, guys. Every time I do a preview the Jaguars lose. You can read fellow fansided blogger TitanSized’s preview here if you really NEED that game preview. Instead of doing a preview, Nick from TitanSized and I did a quick question and answer about the upcoming game.
Titan Sized: What is the status of defensive captain Mike Peterson? It sounds as though both he and the team feel like his playing time there has already [...]
Titans At Jaguars Injury Report
From Jaguars.com:
Jaguars
John Henderson (knee), Greg Jones (ankle) and Troy Williamson (groin) did not practice either Wednesday or Thursday. In the case of Jones and Williamson, it looks like old injuries are giving them problems.
Both Matt Jones (thigh) and Paul Spicer (thigh) saw limited practice. Matt Jones is still not suspended for his drug charge because he is appealing the suspension. What else can I say? At least he is with us this week but it would be nice to plan for the three games he won’t be with us.
Rashean Mathis (foot) and Fred Taylor (neck) did not practice Wednesday but [...]
