The Jacksonville Jaguars suffered a massive blow when they lost tight end Evan Engram to a shoulder injury. However, the show must go on, and they'll need to put their best foot forward if they want to finish the season strong as they've stated several times the past two weeks. Next on their schedule are the New York Jets, who are looking to end a four-game losing skid.
The Jets last won a game when they beat the Houston Texans in Week 9. They gave the Miami Dolphins everything they had last week and even took the game to overtime before they ultimately lost. The Jaguars, for their part, are coming off their third win of the year. Like New York, they've struggled to build consistency this season and have been eliminated from playoff contention.
That said, neither club is ready to throw in the towel just yet, and both of them will try to come out on top when they face each other at EverBank Stadium. Surprisingly, Jacksonville is a 3.5-point underdog despite the fact that they'll be the home team. Then again, they have enough talent to potentially defeat Aaron Rodgers and the Jets. Moreover, the weather should not be a factor.
How's the weather looking for the Jaguars game vs. the Jets in Week 15?
You can tell by the weather that Winter is inching closer. Fortunately, the game will be in Florida, so it won't be that cold. Per NFLWeather, it will be 73 degrees Fahrenheit and there will be a humidity level of 68 percent, meaning that it may be chill, not hot, not cold.
On the other hand, there's a 15 percent chance of precipitation, so there's a relatively low chance of rain. Basically, the weather shouldn't have an impact in the outcome of the game, even if it rains, which isn't likely.
What will the Jaguars need to do to beat the Jets?
The Jacksonville Jaguars have struggled on both sides of the ball this season. Their offense got off to a slow start before showing noticeable improvement. However, it all came to a halt when Trevor Lawrence suffered a shoulder sprain that ended his season prematurely. Mac Jones stepped in his place but has struggled to get things going.
In the past four games, the Jags have only scored more than 10 points once, against the Houston Texans in Week 13. Maybe another week behind center can help Jones build consistency. The fact that he'll have adequate protection and more than enough weapons in spite of losing Evan Engram should help. But as underwhelming as the offense has been, the defense has been equally disappointing.
While Jacksonville has a pair of talented pass rushers in Travon Walker and Josh Hines-Allen, they've had trouble creating pressure on the interior. The secondary has also allowed teams to move the football and score points without much resistance.
On the bright side, the back end has played a bit better since Antonio Johnson replaced Andre Cisco next to Darnell Savage at safety.
Then again, the Jets have more than enough talent on both sides of the ball to leave Jacksonville with their fourth win of the season. It will be up to the Jaguars to hold them off.
