Earlier in the offseason, left tackle Walker Little was the subject of trade rumors. Most of the chatter centered on the fact that he was benched in favor of Cole Van Lanen last year. However, Van Lanen is recovering from a knee injury he suffered late in 2025, so the Jacksonville Jaguars may be better off holding onto Little for the moment. That said, they could revisit their stance following the Wanya Morris trade.

The Kansas City Chiefs sent Morris and a sixth-round pick to the Atlanta Falcons in exchange for a sixth-rounder just a few days after Jeremy Fowler broke the news that the Chiefs were exploring trade options. In the aftermath of the transaction,

In the aftermath of the move, Fowler reported that other teams had shown interest in Morris, meaning that there could be a market for Little if the Jags decided to shop him.

The Jaguars could move Walker Little after the Wanya Morris trade

Kansas City made Wanya Morris a sixth-round pick in 2023. He's appeared in 43 games with 14 starts over the past three seasons. The Chiefs have enough depth at offensive tackle, so they could afford to deal him. Now, you could argue that a sixth-round pick is too low a return for Walker Little, and you would be right, because he's started way more games (39), and outside of 2025, he's generally fared well.

The point is that there's demand for left tackles, and the Jaguars would probably get a higher pick for Little if they put him on the trade block. This begs the question, why haven't they shopped him around?

The Jaguars are keeping Walker Little as insurance for Cole Van Lanen

Walker Little signed a three-year deal worth $40.5 million in 2024, not long after he supplanted Cam Robinson as the starter. However, he struggled last year, giving up a team-worst nine sacks, which led the Jaguars to plug Cole Van Lanen in at left tackle. They subsequently gave him a three-year extension worth $54 million.

Unfortunately, Van Lanen suffered a knee injury late in 2025 and is still recovering from it. The expectation is that he'll be back for training camp, so there's a chance he won't be 100 percent. That might have been why Jacksonville is holding onto Little.

But if Van Lanen is back at full strength or close to it, the Jags could trade Little, who may fetch a fourth or even a conditional third. Moreover, the move would free up nearly $12 million in space, money the team's brass could use to re-sign either tight end Brenton Strange or wide receiver Parker Washington.

Conversely, the Jaguars could hold onto Little for another year. After all, you can never have too many quality players, and the former Stanford Cardinal has ample NFL experience. He could stick around in Duval for another season, and Jacksonville would still be able to trade him in 2027.

Simply put, trading Walker Little has its merits but also comes with drawbacks. The Jaguars still have time to decide what to do with him, but the Wanya Morris trade could incentivize them to deal him.
