One of the biggest storylines surrounding the Jacksonville Jaguars is whether they did enough to bolster the pass rush in the offseason. Sure, Travon Walker and Josh Hines-Allen give them a terrifying duo on the edges. However, the Jags need a proven No. 3 and don't currently have a surefire candidate to seize the job.

Make no mistake, Jacksonville has an intriguing group of young pass rushers in Zach Durfee, Danny Striggow, Wesley Williams, and B.J. Green II. However, none of them has done enough yet to truly separate himself from the bunch. Maybe that could change in training camp, but the team's brass should consider bringing in an established veteran, someone like Von Miller.

After becoming a free agent in March, Miller has remained unsigned. While he's been linked to the Denver Broncos, the team that drafted him second overall in 2011, the former All-Pro is still looking for a team. Perhaps the Jaguars should give him a call.

Why the Jaguars should reach out to Von Miller

The pool of viable pass rushers is quickly drying up. Cam Jordan just returned to the New Orleans Saints, while A.J. Epenesa just landed with the Philadelphia Eagles a few days earlier. That leaves Jadeveon Clowney and Von Miller as the best remaining options.

Clowney would most definitely be an intriguing addition to the Jacksonville pass rush. However, he may want to get a featured role, and that may not be possible in Duval, with Josh Hines-Allen and Travon Walker in the mix. That makes Miller a better alternative.

The former Texas A&M Aggie suited up for the Washington Commanders in 2025 and posted nine sacks, his best mark since 2021 when he had 9.5. But here's the catch: he appeared in 17 games last year but only played 37 percent of the Commanders' defensive snaps.

At this stage of his career, Miller is better suited for a complementary role, one he could perfectly fill with the Jaguars.

Why it makes sense for the Jaguars to sign Von Miller

The Jaguars just invited several former NFL players who excelled at their respective positions to their offseason program. Maurice Jones-Drew and A.J. Green were among those who attended Jacksonville's Organized Team Activities. But what if the Jags brougth a future Hall of Famer to suit up for them next season?

Imagine the kind of impact Miller would have in Duval. He could even share a tip or two with Travon Walker and Josh Hines-Allen. Similarly, he could be a mentor figure for the Jaguars' young pass rusher. Don't forget the eight-time Pro Bowler holds the Sack Summit every year. That's the kind of knowledge he would bring off the field. On the gridiron, he would give the Jacksonville pass rush a boost.

It's also worth noting that Miller probably won't command a big salary at this point of his career, so the Jags could surely work something out.

When you add it all up, the benefits of signing Von Miller outweighs the potential drawbacks, so the Jaguars should strongly consider getting in touch with him as soon as possible.
